Stop Ball Championship

On the last day of the semester before we all headed off on holiday the G4 classes held their first stop ball championship.

Jed in Ms Alison's class organised the draw and kept score.

It was a close competition with the final game between Mr Simon's and Ms Alison's class.

It came right down to the wire with Ms Alison's class winning by one run with only one life remaining.

Thanks for a great way to finish the term

G2-5 Sports Day

Today we had our annual Grade 2 - 5 sports day.

Classes were allocated a colour to dress up in - red, blue or white. Our class was red.

They then rotated between track and field events

The highlight was the tug of war competition with our G4 red team winning, betting the other G4 classes. Well done guys

The overall winners on the day were the red team narrowly over the white team

Movie time - Holes

This semester the class has been listening to Mr Simon read one of his favourite books to the class - Holes by Louis Sachar.

It is a story about a boy called Stanley Yelnats (Stanley spelt backwards) who is sent away to a boys camp to build character by digging holes.

He is under a family curse. A curse that began with his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather.

It is a great story and the children enjoyed the story and then watching the movie with a few treats chucked in.

It was like being at the movies.

Art - Murals

For the past couple of weeks the grade 4 classes have been busy painting murals with Ms Dana.

When completed these murals will be hung up around the school.

Today I popped in to see how they were getting on and even picked up a paint brush to help out a group of girls.

Unfortunately I did not listen to the instructions given and ended up painting over a window. I am sure they can fix up my mistake.

The children are working on huge canvases and it was great watching and listening to the discussions taking place. Superb teamwork to get these murals complete.

The art room was a buzz of excitement when I was in there.

Check out how they are doing.

Buddy time

Every Friday we met with our buddy class the "Tigers" (KG Ms Melinda) and do cool stuff like read, play games and hang out.

On Friday we read to our buddies then went out and played a couple of fun games with the Tigers.

Ms Melinda taught the class how to play "Flush the toilet tag" and "cats and mice".

It was cool fun.
We hope the Tigers have a safe and happy xmas break and look forward to catching up with them after the holidays.

International day - 16th January

UOI presentations to Grade 3

Today the class presented what they have learnt with our Energy Unit to Ms Lisa grade 3 class.

The chidren have been busy preparing what they know about  How the world works - Energy.

Our central idea being that Energy exists in different forms and is used in our everyday life.

It was great listening to the children explain what Energy is and how it affects our everyday lives.

The children were really pushing the message that renewable energy is the way of the future.

Well done to you all for the hard work you have done with your presentations.
