Meeting the new grade

On Friday each grade spent 30minutes with the new grade children that they will have next year. The children do not know who their teacher is so it was a good way to see how the children interacted with each other.

We met the grade 3 children down at the outdoor basketball court and put them into 11 teams. We played a trivial pursuit game with them.

They had to answer a series of questions as quick as them can while working as a team.


It was great fun and the new grade 4 look like a lovely bunch of children. Can't wait to met them next year.


Although I will miss my current grade 4's. They are fabulous.

NGO Fair comes to ISPP

On Friday the NGO (Non Government Organisation) Fair was held at ISPP. This is an annual event where different organisations come to school to share with the children the work they do. There were some amazing organisations that do great work helping people and animals across Cambodia.

The children were each assigned two organisations that they had to investigate. Finding out what they do and why.


The children also got the opportunity to learn some rugby skills with Kampuchea Balopp (Cambodian Rugby).







The founder of this organisation Jean Baptiste, a

Frenchman passionate about rugby spoke to the school about their organisation and about how they also support children with disabilities and raising gender awareness.







He shared some short videos of the great work they have been doing with the children they work with.

Guest speakers

This week we were lucky enough to have two wonderful people come to our school to speak to the grade 4 children about leadership.

First we had Karen Skelly (Secondary school counsellor) talk to the students about being a leader at ISPP. Why it is important for students to have the opportunity to lead and important characteristics of a leader.

Today we had the Indochina Starfish Foundation Country Director-Vicheka Chourp talk to the children about her organisation and in particular their school know as the "Dumpschool"

The Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF) is an International Charity which helps some of the poorest, most disadvantaged children in Cambodia.

The Starfish Story

The Starfish Story encapsulates our belief that each and every one of us can make a difference, one child at a time.

“The tide has gone out and has left a million starfish stranded on the beach. They are slowly dying under the heat of the sun. A little girl is walking along this beautiful sandy beach. As she walks along, she picks up a starfish and throws it back into the sea. She then picks another one and another, throwing each into the sea. An old man watches her for a while then walks up to her and says “What are you doing little girl? There are millions of starfish out there dying. You cannot believe that you can make a difference”. The girl kneels down, picks up a starfish, throws it into the sea and says “I made a difference to that one”.

We were really lucky to have these two wonderful speakers who inspired the children.

I really like what Miss  Karen had to say to the children about how we all have the attributes of a leader in us, that we are all leaders, we just need to find it in us.



She also spoke about how good leaders are surrounded, surround themselvs with people to support and advice them. All these people working towards the same goal.









The starfish foundation does an amazing job working with families and children to educate them. They particularly work with 9-10year old children that have dropped out of school, trying to catch them up. They then send them back to school.

Shape of a leader guest speaker

On Friday the Grade 4 children were lucky enough to have Connor from the secondary school come and talk to them about what it is to be a leader. Connor is the Grade 12 Student Council President.

He spoke really well to the children and told them of his aspiration of joining the US Navy Officer Cadet school to follow in his father and grandfathers footsteps. We wish him all the best.

I really liked one of his quotes that he told the children.
"If not me, then who"...

He also riminded the children to always try their best in what ever they do.

Digital Citizenship

On Friday Mr Matt our IT specialist spoke to all the Grade 4 classes about the importance of digital citizenship. He reminded the children about keeping their passwords secret and about posting comments on blogs.

It was a good reminder for all the children and teachers about passwords and about ensuring what comments we post on blogs are sensible.
