Peace and Conflict UOI

This week saw the end of one unit of inquiry and the introduction of our new unit.

This unit is called Peace and conflict with the central idea being "The actions and attitudes of individuals and communities create peace or conflict".

The class were put into pairs and were asked to pull apart the central idea and rewrite it in their own words.

The groups worked really hard and had some good discussion over what "conflict" is.... the consensus being that conflict comes in different forms and affects us in various ways individually and as a community of people.

Beliefs UOI reflection

To wrap up our unit of inquiry on "Who we are belief system".

The children had to complete a reflection. They were asked to think about how they thought.....
- At the start of the unit I used to think ....
- Now I think......
- Ways my attitude, the way I think have changed (How will I act)

Before they wrote down their thoughts we completed a discussion donut where they shared their thoughts with one person then rotated and listened and shared to another person.

Some great discussion took place.

Once completed the class then recorded their thoughts and created a blog post on their reflections. Check out their blogs

YAPP T-Ball

On Wednesday the PE department took 60 children to North Bridge International School for the annual T-Ball tournament.

There was a large group of Grade 4 children that participated in this especially from our class.

The children say they were all great and won all of their games. It was great to see so many of the class put their hand up and give the game a go.

A huge thank you to Mr Ben and Mr Andy for the hard work they did in preparing the children.

Word is ISPP were by far the best teams in fielding.

As they say "Catches win matches".

G5 NGO FAIR

Today the grade 4 children got to visit the Grade 5 NGO fair.

They were each tasked to visit 3 NGO organisations and evaluate them for the Grade 5 children. The feedback the G5 received was valuable as they then had a chance to go and improve their boards.

On Thursday the G4 will revisit the three NGO organisations this time with the G5 children present to answer any questions they had.

There were some amazing research done by the grade 5 children and the G4 really enjoyed reading about the different NGO organisations.

On Thursday the G4 then went back and revisited the G5 NGO exhibition this time with the G5 children present. They were then able to ask them questions about their organisations.

Chinese New Year

It was a tough day at the office for Mr Simon and his class today with only 6 children turning up for school. Nine children were away celebrating with their families Chinese New Year and a few unwell children as well.
They had a great PE lesson as they joined up with a grade 5 class and played a cool game of t-ball inside the gym.

The class went and helped out Ms Karyn's G2 class with their maths.
They buddied up and helped them with creating arrays in times tables.

We hope everyone travels safe over this period of time.
