Athletics has started

This week saw the start of the athletic programme for PE.

The children are busy learning the skills to run, jump and throw.

Both Mr Ben and Mr Andy have the children out on the field fine tuning their techniques.

Remember to bring your hat for PE now as you are outside.

Check out these photos. They sure show the children in action. Mr Simon is still learning how to use the new class camera. It takes lovely photos on zoom

Mr Matt and Stop go Motion

Today Mr Matt came into the class to talk to the children about using "Stop go Motion".

He showed the class how to use the app "Lego Stop Go Motion".

He reminded the class about frames per second (FPS) and about not over complicating the set and storyline.

For a 10second movie you will need to take approx 100 photos.

The class has decided that everyone will use the same theme - A robbery or heist. Stealing a treasure piece.

Buddy time with the tigers

Today we got to spend some time with our KG buddy class commonly called the "Tigers".

Today the tigers talked to the class about how they would like to change our name from being Mr Simon's G4 class to an animal - like theirs.

The class had a vote and it was a close race between Sharks, Hippos (Mr Simon's favourite) and Ocelot (from the cat family)

In the end the Ocelot won and now the tigers will call us the "Ocelots"

UOI - Artistic creativity

This week as part of finishing up our unit of inquiry "On how we express ourselves".  The class have been busy working on creating their own collage based on a street scene from Phnom Penh.

It has been really lovely working alongside the children as they create their collages.

Listening to the children sing and talk as they worked gave me a wonderful insite into their lives and how open minded they all are.

I can't wait to see their finished work.

The work they are creating is

UOI - Artist Frederikke

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have Frederikke a Danish artist living in Phnom Penh. She told the children that she has been drawing, sketching, painting, creating since she was 11 years old.

She loves to work in water colours because as a child water colour paints were easy to take away when she travelled and you can do so much with them

She is also runs her own business subsidizing her art by creating animated online gift cards. (e-cards)

Here is the link to her blog. You can see some of her work.

She also has a business creating beautiful e cards. She showed us three of the animations she has created. Here is the link to the website - if you are interested in seeing more.

G4 Assembly

Last week the G4 children ran and organised the school assembly in the black box theatre.

It was the first time the school had been in the theatre and were very excited.

It was a great celebration of what the children have been learning and doing in the classes.

The children shared what they had been doing in our unit "How we express ourselves" - That artistic expression is influenced by the society in which it exits.

They shared examples of writing and thanked the community - various artist that came into the school for their support.

The children ended the assembly by singing the song "Brave". We thought this was a great song for the team as it talks about being risktakers and not giving up.
