Team Time

On Friday we held our first "Team Time". It was an opprotunity for the children to share something we have been learning in the class.

We have all been busy working on our Unit of Inquiry - Shape of a leader. The classes focusing on - 'That people have played a leading role in societies which has resulted in change".

The classes for our dance performances focused on just a few of the attributes leaders showed - teamwork, motivation and cooperation.
These are some of the attributes a leader needs to have to drive their team, business and even community forward.

Another great attribute the classes showed was "risktaker". It is not easy standing up in front of an audience to perform.

I was really proud of the class for the way they got stuck into the dance they choose.

Well done to Hyein and Seo Young for being the presenters for our first team time. They did a fabulous job and also showed great attributes of a leader by leading our team time.

I have included some photos of our dance routine and a video. Please dont judge the big tall person in the back with his lack of coordination.

I hope you enjoy.

Kelly Leader Profile - George Washington

Kelly has been working hard learning about her leader she is reseaching and the attributes George Washington showed.
Here is her work.

Swimming

Today I took some photos of the children at swimming.

They were all working really hard to improve their stroke and technique.

The class can be really proud of how they are doing.

It sure looked like they were having fun.

What attributes of a leader do I have

Today the class looked at themselves as a leader and had to select "Attributes" that they felt they had.

It was great listening to the children discuss the attributes they felt they had and listening to them tell others what attributes they had.

Hopes and concerns parent teacher conference

Dear Parents,

HOPES & CONCERNS Parent Teacher Conference for Kindergarten to Grade 5

On Friday you received a conference date and time for next week to meet with your child’s homeroom teacher to discuss what your hopes are for your child this year and to let the teacher know if you have any concerns.

Please be reminded that this is an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teachers without your child.

All students will be dismissed at 11:30am on both Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 September.

They will have lunch before they go. Please be on time to take your child home at 11:30am.

Here are a few questions to help you prepare for the meeting:

  • What does the teacher need to know about my child? i.e. allergies, healthwise, developmental levels, behaviour, home routines etc.
  • Is there anything that my child seems worried about?
  • Are there areas that I think s/he may need special assistance with this year?
  • Does my child have a special interest or strength that his/her teachers should know about?
  • What hopes do I have for my child this semester?
  • What concerns do I have for my child?

I look forward to meeting you all.

On Friday the school closed early so the staff could work together unpacking the ATL's.

It was great to be able to work with the secondary teachers.
